Eighteen individuals were killed after a plane crashed and burst into flames while it was taking off from Nepal's capital, Kathmandu. After being rescued from the burning wreckage, the pilot, who is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, is the only one who survived Wednesday's fatal accident. There were two crew members and 17 company employees on the Saurya Airlines flight, including technical staff. It was headed west toward Pokhara, a popular tourist destination in the Himalayas.

Nepal's flying industry has an unfortunate security record that has been blamed on numerous elements throughout the long term, from unusual climates to remiss guidelines. The flight, which was setting out toward Pokhara for routine technical maintenance, crashed at around 11:15 local time (05:30 GMT), a couple of moments after it took off from Tribhuvan Global Air terminal.

According to the rescue operation sources, the pilot sustained injuries to his eyes and forehead, but his life was not in danger, according to police spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki. One man, who was inside a store nearby at the time of the accident, stated: It sounded like maybe a truck had overturned on the road, and there was a very loud noise. "When we saw the crash, we ran." The plane then caught fire after hitting the ground. "We ran away again after there was an explosion when we were about to run to the site," he told the AFP news agency.

The accident had happened as soon as it left the ground, within a minute, according to some eyewitnesses. The authorities at the airport have not been able to determine what caused the disaster. However, the official source of Tribhuvan International Airport stated that the plane had flown in the wrong direction based on an initial assessment. The plane was captured tilting above the runway before plummeting to the ground and burst into flames. It immediately got engulfed in fire and smoke.

In the recordings of some bystanders, rescue workers were seen maneuvering through the charred and blackened portions of the plane. It appeared that parts of the plane were inside an air freight container. After the incident, ambulances and fire engines rushed to the location. A Yemenian man who was employed as an engineer was among the 17 Nepalis who perished in the accident. According to the Reuters news agency, Saurya Airlines marketing head Mukesh Khanal stated, "It is unclear why it crashed." "The plane was scheduled to undergo maintenance for a month beginning Thursday." According to Reuters, the crash resulted in the airport in Kathmandu temporarily closing, but it reopened within hours.
